Bio

Helloo! My name is Sophia Stewart-Chapman. I am a recent graduate of Clark University’s fourth cohort of Community, Youth and Education Studies in 2022. I also minored in Women’s and Gender Studies and had a concentration in Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies – these three fields of study are deeply interconnected in my life and approach to education. I grew up moving between the Bronx and Harlem in New York City with my younger brother, younger sister, and four wonderful mothers. My love for learning and social justice education has been cultivated by my mothers and step-mothers, all of whom are brilliant educators. It is because of them and the many fantastic teachers in my life that I will be pursuing a master’s degree in elementary education through Clark’s 5th year Masters of Arts in Teaching program. Outside of education and teaching, I also love cooking meals with friends, taking walks around NYC, making zines, and watching lots of movies!!
